What We Do & Don't Do

We will provide a brief FREE assessment of your project, and let you know if we think the book is suitable for publication. We may hurt your feelings, but it's better to be hurt privately than publicly.

If we think your book is worthwhile, we will provide a proposal for a detailed analysis. The price depends on the size of the book and how good or bad it is. Typical price range is $250-$800. 

• We go through your book thoroughly.
• We consider competing books.
• We point out both macro and micro errors in design and writing, but we do not design, edit or rewrite.
• We may suggest changes in your text.
• We may suggest changes in your interior design.
• We may suggest changes in your title, subtitle and cover design.
• We may recommend editors, designers, publishers, printers and marketers.
• Our work is NOT a substitute for professional editing. We work before the editors work.
• We can't guarantee success (however you define it), but we can help you to minimize failure.
• At this time we do NOT work on novels, children's books or poetry.
• We work with books written in English or French.
• We are NOT a fact checker, a literary agency or a book shepherd.
• We will NOT publish your book.
• We can work with almost any author, but we specialize in helping self-publishing authors -- both those who operate their own publishing companies and those who use a self-publishing company.
• We will not reveal anything about your book to anyone without your permission.
• You can pay us with a credit card, by check or with PayPal.

What We Need From You

If you prefer, you can send an email describing your book, its audience and your background. The more information (such as a chapter list and assessment of competitive books) the better we can evaluate your project. You can also send a sample chapter.

We'll get back to you with a proposal (probably within a few days).

If you accept our proposal, we'll need your manuscript as either a Microsof Word document or a PDF, plus your cover design (even a rough design), if it exists. We also need to know about your platform, budget and marketing plans, if any.
